I’ve just gotten this overwhelming urge to watch Ronin.

– Alex Garland - The Beach
I read this novel over ten years ago, and this line has always stuck with me.
Ashley: Cheer up, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Or something..
Josh: Yeah, and sometimes that light is a fucking train.
I’ve just been outside and I could see the lights of five planes without moving my head. Seems busy up there.

There’s been a house party going on somwhere near me for the last few hours. I could hear the bass or the music since it started.
I’m not complaining. It’s a Saturday night, they seem pretty cool from the music they’ve been playing and, at just gone midnight (90 minutes ago), there was a huge rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, but I couldn’t catch the...

I know there is that shuffle button at the top when you view the songs in an album, but when I hit the first song it does a random order anyway. This is really aggravating, seeing as I like to hear the songs in the order they were supposed to be. Reblog with your answer or reply/message via Twitter.

It was a good day
I had a really good day at work today.
I didn’t get much of my own work done, which will probably bite me in the arse for the next few days, but I did help a load of other people out with all kinds of things, like:
finding a recording of a telephone conversation from months ago
working out formulas and graphs for a massive spreadsheet
rewording letters
fixing a printer that was refusing...

Gratin Dauphinois
Last month, at Download, one of the highlights of the entire weekend was finding this food stall that served French food. It was known around the festival as “The French Food place”. It’s official name was La Grande Bouffe and, to people more familiar with music festivals than I am, it’s already well-respected.
They basically served gratin variations and the nicest...

Tumblr MP3 Player →
One of the most frequently mentioned gripes with Tumblr’s audio post functionality is the lack of a continuous playlist of audio posts. Various people have attempted to hack workarounds (myself included, with limited success), but none come close to what Dan Kantor has managed.
In his post he introduces the Streampad-powered Tumblr MP3 player, and it couldn’t be easier to get up and running....

A few months ago, I went to an external seminar for work, with maybe 150 people there. During the morning session, I passed out in my chair. Apparently, I made a weird grunting sound, kicked back in my chair and then fell to the floor, bringing the whole thing to a halt while people tried to revive me. Even though I came round after a couple of minutes (pale as a sheet and sweating bullets) and...

Favtape.com →
A Muxtape inspired site that automatically creates a playlist of your favorite songs from Last.fm or Pandora without the need to upload MP3’s. Here are my latest Last.fm favorites. Interestingly, this site is not only easier to update than Muxtape, but it’s also less likely to come under legal scrutiny since they don’t host music files.

This is an old one, and was appropriately reblogged throughout the Tumblr universe back then, but it’s especially meaningful to me today in light of some things.

Why did something I post have to show up on the tumblr radar this week. Why couldn’t this have happened 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago I’m pretty sure that I was so much funnier. Remember that awesome Hot Asian/Pokemon joke I made, guys? Oh man. I do. That was my peak. My zenith.

Noticed Today...
It’s a shame the number 5 takes so much longer to write (relatively) to the other single digit numbers. No shortcuts to be taken or it looks like a messy backwards 2, and that’s not cool with me.
(Via lfarm)
I have never been able to write ‘8’ decently. As a kid, I used to write it almost sideways, like the infinity sign, which was fine with me. But then my teachers slowly started...

80s Film Night!
Holy shit! Top Gun is on TV now!
I have to watch this to the end and I promised friends that I’d watch Gremlins tonight, after Ste and Kell bought it for me because I’ve never seen it.
In four hours’ time, I will have watched three of the best films from the 80s in less than 12 hours.

Printers
You know what I don’t understand? Almost every (office) printer now takes a full ream of paper. Why do people only put part of a ream in the printer and leave the rest for later?

I’m pretty sure it’s so that they don’t have to deal with getting rid of the packet.

This site and others like it are apparently already well-known, but they’re news to me. You sign up with the site, choose a charity or a cause to support, log in and then shop online like usual. Any retailers that have signed up will make a donation (either a flat fee or a percentage) to the charity/cause that you’ve chosen every time you buy stuff from them.
My cousin mentioned it...
