Leeds United 1 - Arsenal 3: Match Report - Telegraph

As this pulsating FA Cup tie drew to a close, as Arsenal finally ended the magnificent resistance of Simon Grayson’s men, Elland Road reverberated to a chorus of “we’re Leeds and we’re proud of it”.

Whatever the disappointment of bowing out of the Cup, particularly after Bradley Johnson’s stunning strike had made it 2-1, a performance full of belief should give Leeds hope for the future. They stood toe to toe with a real Premier League heavyweight, absorbed painful combinations and punches, and kept coming back for more.

We might have lost the game last night, but this report is a good read for any Leeds fans.

The Cloudspotter's Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney

Due to my freakish fascination with taking photos of the sky, one of my friends got me this book as a Secret Santa present.

I haven’t read it yet — I’ve only flicked through it — but I think I’m going to love it. It’s written in a whimsical way that reminds me of Bill Bryson’s writing — informative but light-hearted.

For bonus points, the author also co-founded The Cloud Appreciation Society. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Remember the photo of my granddad that I posted last year? We recently found a few more of his old photos so, for Christmas, we had them framed for him. This is probably my favourite of the new ones. The best we can place it, it was taken some time after he’d got back after the Second World War, but definitely before 1950. My granddad’s crouched front and centre, like a boss.
