You know that scene in Terminator 2, where Sarah Connor is escaping from the hospital, and Arnie walks out of the lift, and she falls to the ground and starts crawling backwards in a slow-motion panic?
That scene defines the entire Terminator series in my mind.
Two years ago, my hair was in one its longer and messier phases. Some friends at work thought so as well.
At the time, they all worked at one bank of desks and I sat at another bank of desks, with my back to them, on the other side of the room. One afternoon, my email pings and I get Outlook’s little popup new message notification and then another one and then another one and then another one and then another one. They’d all typed the same email and hit ‘Send’ at the same time. I thought it was funny.

Faith No More — Reunited (Live at the Download Festival 2009 — via fnmdownload2009)
Their opening song of their Download set.
My defining memory of Download 2009 will be Mike Patton and his red suit.
This will also be my last Download-related post.
Kerrang!'s review of Faith No More's set at Download
“…most are here to see Faith No More, whose singer, MIke Patton, looks like he’s having the time of his life. An opening cover of Peaches & Herb’s Reunited sets the tone for a set that’s both humourous, leftfield and, hence, brilliant. Even a band for who the unexpected can be expected, tonight in a drunken field, they are an absolute delight. Welcome back, gentlemen.”

(Photo stolen from Suzanne)
Just like last year, I regret not getting a photo of the entire gang, but I think this is the best group photo we got this year. Suzanne took it, so she’s missing from it.
This is right before we left on the last day. All packed up except for the gazebo, a big pile of rubbish on the ground, my rental car in the background (Jim’s rental isn’t in the photo) and tired but happy faces.

Faith No More — Epic (Live at Download 2009)
Because it was epic (hehe), this is Faith No More playing Epic as their penultimate song (before the encore) at Download 2009. They headlined the first night on the main stage and killed it. My set of the weekend, without a doubt.
The entire set is up on Youtube and audio-only can (probably…) be found with a simple search.
After days of talk, we finally managed to take a photo of our flag illuminated in the dark.
Unfortunately, it was decided on the last night that a drunken me should take it. Chris played his part by shining his X-Files-power torch on the flag the entire time and, after a five minute walk, I managed to take this masterpiece.
If you can’t tell, our flag, which was right by our tents, is the red dot in the lower-right.
