Tomorrow, a friend of mine, along with around 1,500 other people, is attempting the Parish Walk — a walking race on the Isle of Man covering 85 miles in under 24 hours. The winner tends to complete it in around 15-16 hours.
He’s aiming to do the full distance, and I’ll be doing a stint of support work for him — driving ahead of him and meeting him every few miles with refreshments, medical aid (plasters, painkillers, etc.) and encouragement.
Despite thinking that the whole thing is insane, I’m looking forward to it, even though I have to wear a reflective bib while I’m doing it.
