This is me and my student Bu Reh (pr. like what a ghost says and a french hat.) He just graduated from his first 6 weeks of English language coaching with me. We added 30 words to his vocabulary (including the word vocabulary :-D ), and worked on using them in sentences.
I learned 10 words and one sentence in Karenni. (plus some Burmese and Karen.)
Bu Reh a Karenni from Burma is 18 and has been in the states for 3 months, after spending 13 years in refugee camps in Thailand. He has never seen snow, and is excellent at playing hackey sack.
In this photo I took him to a coffee shop and persuaded him against his will to order us two cups of coffee. (I explained to the staff that he was practicing his English.)
I am very proud of this young man and his hard work.

There is nothing about this that I don’t love.
