Sheffield city centre June 1968 (via loose_grip_99)
I lived in Sheffield for three years, and this isn’t where I thought it was. The fact that my mental map of Sheffield is fading makes me sad.
Before I looked at the Flickr page, I thought this was on Furnival Gate, with The Moor descending to the left. It’s actually at the other end of The Moor, on Fitzwilliam Gate, with The Moor ascending to the left.
Anyway, what I was going to say is that where I thought this photo was taken was where I’ve probably come closest to dying, when some tosser ran the red light at this junction and nearly hit me at over 30mph while he was driving ‘into’ this photo.
However, that actually happened about 300 metres north of where this photo was actually taken, so maybe I should just shut up and wallow in my fading memories.
