Filmmaker Cameron Crowe was a fan of [My So-Called Life] and included a shot in his film Jerry Maguire (of Jerry and Dorothy talking on a residential street at night) that was an homage to a similarly framed shot in the pilot episode of My So-Called Life.

I’m embarrassed that I haven’t caught this in the 3-4 times I’ve seen Jerry Maguire. I can tell you off the top of my head that in the My So-Called Life scene, you can see brake lights flaring in the distance. And Angela does that defining cross-legged stance. (I only read about this because Juliana Hatfield’s ‘Make It Home’ came up on shuffle.)
