The West Wing: Bringing the Funny

A really enjoyable list of user-submitted funny scenes from ‘The West Wing’.  I loved that show and reading a lot of these made me smile, laugh and want to break out the DVDs.

Lost's Sawyer Wants to Give YOU a nickname

I’m Chairman Mao. I always get a kick out of these nickname games.

macuyiko: :O Math boy?

lfarm: Mine is Ferdinand. Just what I was hoping for.

My So-Called Life (via cherrypinupgirl)

This is probably my favourite television scene ever. I loved My So-Called Life. It was only recommended to me by a friend about halfway through the series here in the UK, and it took me a while to see the ones I’d missed.

I’ve bought the series twice now on its two different DVD releases and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to put it at the top of my ‘Favourite TV Shows…Ever’ list. And this is the best scene from the show. I’m only posting this because Buffalo Tom’s ‘Late At Night’ just came up on random play on iTunes. And I only bought the album because of this scene.

Jesus, this scene gives me goosebumps every time I see it.

I loved My So-Called Life.

Bugsy Malone - We Could Have Been Anything (That We Wanted To Be) (via dgv19711).

The film was on TV this afternoon. I started watching halfway through and couldn’t stop watching. It made me feel like a kid again. This song will always make me happy.

A scene from The Wire, with canned laughter. Funny.

This seems to be from the fourth series, which I haven’t seen yet (I’m waiting for the R2 DVDs to be released, if I can wait that long…) but it was still totally worth it.

mobileAct Unsigned

“mobileAct unsigned is the search for the best new band in Britain. We’re not looking for plastic pop. This competition is about unearthing real talent – young bands that write and perform their own music. The search is led by a panel of some of the most credible experts in the music industry: Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, Blur’s Bassist Alex James and the head of A & M Records Simon Gavin.”

It’s basically a cooler version of X-Factor or Pop Idol, and I’m pretty addicted to it.

Two of my early picks have gone, two are still in:

Ginger Bread Men. I recommend ‘Dazzling Urbanite’. (myspace page).

Hijak Oscar. I recommend ‘Bitter Carnival’. (myspace page).

And, just because I liked them so much, there was also Out From Animals and I recommend ‘The National Curriculum’. (myspace page).

Spaced “Gone” Gun Fight (via loquaciousmuse). I saw this episode of Spaced for the first time in a while tonight and this is probably my favourite scene from any of the episodes. It might make a bit more sense if you watch this clip from earlier in the episode first, but I think the above clip works fine by itself. I love(d) this show.

Moving The Desk (via seanstrosity).

I just saw this episode from the first series of The Wire again tonight. This is one of the best cold opens I’ve ever seen. It would fit right in on a comedy show, never mind one of the best dramas in recent memory.
