The King Blues — I Want You (Official Video)

One of Decode’s latest videos, shot on tour with the guys on their Punk & Poetry tour!

It’s currently on Kerrang’s playlist, so keep an eye out for it on Kerrang TV - Sky channel 468!

Of all the bands that I saw at Download a few weeks ago, it was The King Blues that surprised me the most. I’ve always liked them but, live, they were so much more raw than they sound on their albums. That’s a good thing — they were brilliant.

This video is for the album version of the song, but it’s based on footage from their live shows, so at least you can get an idea. I hope they release a live album someday.

(Full-screen it for HD gorgeousness)

Mad Capsule Markets - Pulse

Maybe five years ago, I was flicking through music channels late at night, playing my ‘game’ where I can only go to bed when I haven’t seen anything I like for a complete cycle, and I came across this video around a third of the way in.

I didn’t know who it was, who they were, what the hell they were singing about, but I loved it.  I stayed to the end and have loved Mad Capsule Markets ever since.

Gordon Banks’ famous save from Pele’s header in the England v Brazil match during the 1970 World Cup.

This is probably stil the greatest televised save there has ever been.  It’s written about in more detail on Gordon Banks’ Wikipedia page, but the basic points are the distance he covered across the goal, how fast he managed to get down to the ball and the fact that stopping the ball when it’s bouncing upwards is the hardest thing for a keeper to do.  Any three of those aspects make a good save.  All three within two seconds make it the moment of magic it is.

Here are a couple of photos to go alongside it.  This classic photo shows Banks throwing himself to the ground, from the opposite angle to the TV footage, and this photo shows the action from the other end of the pitch.  You can hardly see Banks, on the ground behind No. 4 (Tommy Wright), but look at Pele’s raised arms, he was so sure that he’d just scored, and look at the ball bouncing away over the crossbar.

Every time I see this, it reminds me why I like sport so much.  Those little moments of magic.

The Pharcyde - Drop

One of my favourite music videos…ever!  I don’t know why I thought about this over the weekend, but I did.  I haven’t seen it or heard the song for a few years.

Directed by Spike Jonze, cameos and a sample from the Beastie Boys, filmed in reverse, and they actually learned the song backwards!  What’s not to love?

There’s a sweet link on this YouTube page with more information, including a scan of Spike Jonze’s original treatment for the video.  Definitely worth a read.

40’ gap into pool - bad ass! (Via drunkirishhusbands)

The first thing I thought about was the cover to Nada Surf’s High/Low, and I love how you can see him adjust in the air.

Channel 4 Kubrick Season Ad (via spuller).

A brilliant recreation of The Shining set for Channel 4’s upcomng Kubrick Season.

I didn’t know scissors could cut hair.

Amir

This might be my favourite episode of Jake and Amir so far.

Jackie Brown Trailer (via WorleyClarence).

This is one of my favourite trailers ever.  It’s short, it’s memorable, it makes you want to know more, it hardly gives away anything about the plot, it looks cool, and The Temptations song seems to fit it perfectly.  It pretty much does everything a trailer should do.

My favourite part is when Bridget Fonda drops herself into the chair during the first “Ahh” part.  The music and the visual just seem like they were made for each other.

I almost wish that they hadn’t included Samuel L Jackson’s “If you absoutely, positively have to kill every motherfucker in the room…” line, but then remember that, at the, time, it was fresh.

“I’m beached as, bro!”

New Zealander’s really do speak like this.  A very cute animation.

I hated the New Zealand accent until I actually went there.  Now I think it’s adorable.  Go figure…

I just watched this three times in a row, and now I’m going to watch it again.

“That’s pretty deceptive.”

“I know, it’s very misleading”.

Love it.
